CEO of the Belgian Football Association after a claim from the prosecutor's office: "Our football heart is bleeding"

This concerns 56 natural persons and one company, who are suspected of forgery, money laundering, match fixing and membership of a criminal organization.

“The KBVB has taken note of the draft final claim of the federal prosecutor’s office in the file “Clean Hands” (sic)”, it sounds in a short announcement.

CEO Peter Bossaert: “This does not come as a surprise, but that does not alter the fact that our football hearts are bleeding. We will first take the time to analyze the file, but would like to emphasize that we will take our responsibility.”

The federal prosecutor’s office did not comment on the names mentioned in the final claim, but our editors were able to view the claim.

François De Keersmaecker, president of the football association for many years, and Steven Martens, former secretary general, would also like to refer the public prosecutor, just like Erwin Lemmens, the current goalkeeper coach at the Red Devils.
