A future update of WhatsApp will implement a global audio player, which will allow us to continue listening to them in other parts of the app and without having the chat open.

WhatsApp audios are loved and hated in equal measure. On the one hand, they are very convenient and useful in situations where we cannot start typing; However, for many people they are a great annoyance that lengthens conversations for no reason and forces us to stop what we were doing to hear the message.

WhatsApp seems to be aware of these and other annoyances, and for the last year has implemented new features exclusively dedicated to voice messages, such as the option to play audios twice as fast to save time, or the possibility of listening to messages before sending them. .

But the best novelty, without a doubt, will be the one that allows us to continue listening to WhatsApp audios while we do other thingsThanks to a new global player to stay at the top of the screen.

The new player has already been discovered by WABetaInfo in the beta version of the iOS app, and this week it has also reached the Android version, where it will work in a similar way. When they send us a voice message and we play it, we can change chat and go to other WhatsApp screens; then, the player will move to the top of the app, where we can use the controls to pause the audio or press the “X” to remove it.

While the player is active, we can read other chats and send messages, while listening to what they have to say. This can completely change the way we use WhatsApp, and can further encourage the use of audios; however, it is still too early to celebrate as the functionality is not yet ready and not even beta users can use it yet.
