Gutierrez-Reed is also suing the ammunition supplier for supplying another weapons expert and the company PDQ Arm and Prop with a mix of training cartridges and real bullets. They would have indicated that it was only the ‘practice bullets’, which contain no powder or bullet. “By doing so, the defendants created a dangerous situation on the film set, which Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was not aware of,” the court documents said.
In it, Gutierrez-Reed also states that the day would have gone differently if the producers had hired her for the filming in question, “If Hannah had been called in, she would have re-inspected the weapon and all the ammunition. She would also have instructed Baldwin, as she normally did on set. Hannah would never have let Baldwin point the gun at Halyna for security reasons.”
The 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was hit by a still unknown projectile during the rehearsal of the scene in question in October and was killed in the process. Director Joel Souza was also hit, but he escaped with relatively minor injuries.
