Military groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of the South carried out exercises with the anti-aircraft missile system Osa-AKM near Crimea. The Ukrainian military said the exercises were held in preparation for any possible action on the border with Crimea.

Air defense units of the southern grouping of the Ukrainian armed forces have trained in the use of the Osa-AKM air defense system in the Kherson region near the border with Crimea. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on Thursday. In a Facebook post it said:

“The air defense units of the Armed Forces Group South in the Kherson region have carried out training on the anti-aircraft guided missile systems Osa-AKM.”

It has been suggested that the anti-aircraft guided missile system is a powerful automated military anti-aircraft missile system designed to protect the forces and resources of units in all types of combat operations. Potential targets for the complex include drones, helicopters, airplanes, and ground equipment. The report quoted an unnamed officer from the South Forces Group as saying:

“The anti-aircraft guided missile system Osa-AKM is all-terrain, can navigate water hazards, and has high firepower that allows it to destroy a wide variety of targets up to ten kilometers away, with targets up to 45 kilometers away being detected . “

It was stressed that the Ukrainian armed forces were conducting exercises in preparation for “every possible action” on the border with Crimea.

In early January, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that exercises to repel a tank attack and an approach to Ukrainian territory were being carried out in the Kherson region.
