The iPhone 15 Pro will have Face ID under the screen: several rumors agree on the next step for an iPhone without a notch

We have been seeing a bit of tug of war with the issue of the notch of the iPhone, Face ID and the iPhone 14. The rumors seem not to be entirely in accordance with Apple’s short-term plans, in what they do coincide is in Apple’s long-term plans. Several sources suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro will have Face ID under the screen.

Towards an iPhone without notch, all screen

Apple usually closes plans for iPhones at the beginning of each year. The reason for this is that after closing the specifications you have to carry out tests, make prototypes, adjust production and you have to do everything before they are presented to the general public in September. For this reason it is precisely now, during the first months of the year, where the conversation about the new iPhones occupies more rumors.

After talking about the possibility that the iPhone 14 has a front that combines a hole as well as an elongated one, the analyst Ross Young has published a second tweet claiming that the infrared camera that brings Face ID to life will not move under the screen until 2023 or 2024. This matches what was predicted by Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that Face ID will not be hidden under the screen until 2023.

Between both analysts the hit ratio is one of the highest we can see in the world of Apple rumors. They are still rumors, of course, but it seems that Apple’s plans for Face ID go through it disappearing under the screen in the iPhone 15 Pro.

The question here is whether we will still need a hole to make way for the front camera signal or if it can also be located behind the screen and appear only when it is needed. As far as we know, Apple is taking steps towards the all-screen iPhone. We have seen it with the reduction of the size of the notch in the iPhone 13, we believe that we will see it with the double configuration of sensors in the iPhone 14 and we will be awaiting what else the rumors of the iPhone 15 tell us.
