Athletic Bilbao follows Real Madrid into the final of the Spanish Supercopa.

The Basques beat Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the semi-finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

After a goalless first half, it is the Madrilenians who take the lead after 62 minutes due to an own goal. A header from Joao Felix jumps to the aluminum, from there the diving Unai Simon on the back. The ball rolls into the goal to guide the Colchoneros.

But Bilbao really turned up afterwards: Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak scratched a header from Inigo Martinez with all his physical effort just one minute after the goal, but the Slovenian was defeated in minute 77.

Yeray putted a header into Muniain’s corner. Four minutes later, Nico Williams put a rebound in Oblak’s goal after another Muniain set piece to win the Basques. In the third minute of stoppage time Atletico player Gimenez picked up the red card.

The final between Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao will take place on Sunday (19:30 CET) in Riyadh.
