Finally goals at the Africa Cup, but remarkably few fans to see that

The Africa Cup had not been a productive tournament until now, with 12 goals in as many matches. Cameroon was the only country that could score more than 1x and the host country did that again in its second group match. After the 2-1 against Burkina Faso, Cameroon beat Ethiopia today: 4-1.

A naive footballing Ethiopia had actually taken the lead thanks to Hotessa, but after that early opening goal after Cameroon convincingly took over the command. Toko Ekambi soon equalized.

After the break, the homeland went up and over Ethiopia. Aboubakar scored 2 times early in the 2nd half and again Toko Ekambi secured the 4-1 final score.

With the 6 out of 6, Cameroon is already certain of a place in the 1/8th finals, but that qualification did not lead to exuberant scenes of joy in the new stadium in Yaoundé. That was because it was remarkably empty, which is remarkable for a match of the host country. There were still some spectators in the main stands, but the stands behind both goals looked eerily empty.
