One of the keys to its success is that for all users it is the same word to find every day and in case of failure, you must wait until the next day. Therefore, users share their results on networks to compare with others and find out if they have used the same attempts.

In addition, another of the advantages it has is simply a web address that you enter and play, nothing more. Nor it can be downloaded, does not ask for data, has no ads, does not send notifications, It does not offer in-game purchases and there are no levels to climb or screens to unlock. A daily game is the maximum that can be played.

According to the New York Times, on November 1, 90 people tried to find the word of the day. Two months later, on January 2, they exceeded 300,000. In addition, its creator, the American Josh Wardle, noted this same medium: “I think people appreciate that there is something online that is just fun. It doesn’t try to do anything shady with your data or your eyes. It’s just an entertaining game.”

This game was originally designed by Wardle as a pastime for his partner, who was a faithful user of the crossword puzzles found in the last pages of newspapers. She began to play and it was little by little sharing it with some family and friends, until it finally spread and now it already has versions in Catalan and Galician, as well as Spanish and English.
