The PP demands explanations from Puig for the health workers without a contract in the Torrevieja hospital

The Popular Party will demand explanations from the president of the Valencian government the socialist Ximo Puig and the Minister of Health, the also socialist Ana Barceló, for the health workers without a contract who are working in the Torrevieja hospital. In addition, it will claim from Barceló the relationship of those workers without a hospital contract since last October 15, the date on which the center passed from private management to that of the Barceló Health Department. The PP was already working this morning on the document that it will transfer to the Valencian Courts to know in detail what the depth of the situation is. Thus, it was announced today by the head of the Strategic Cabinet of the Alicante Province People’s Party Eduardo Dolon.

The events that have triggered the reaction of the PP occurred just a few hours ago, when a socialist leader from Torrevieja, Joaquín Cos, admitted in a gathering of the local television channel Torrevieja that there are people working in the aforementioned hospital without being paid. And he spoke, especially, of the case of his own partner, who at the time of the gathering had not yet signed that contract despite having been working since November, according to Cos said. Today, Eduardo Dolón has argued that Ana Barceló should clarify this as soon as possible. “We could be facing a serious employment situation,” said the mayor of Torrevieja.

Thus, The PP has demanded today to know in what conditions the workforce works because “we could be facing reportable irregularities in the Labor Inspection”, according to Dolón, who has argued that the situation could be very serious. Above all, after the Generalitat Valenciana de Puig y Barceló dismantled a hospital “that worked perfectly” before being handed over to the Generalitat.

It so happens that, since last October 15, the date of the reversal of the hospital from private to public management, the center has suffered one after another several problems. The first was the dismissal of the worker who as a minor was abused by the ex-husband of the first vice president and Minister of Equality and Inclusive Policies of the Generalitat Valenciana Mónica Oltra. Then, the ‘deferred’ dismissal of several non-specialized doctors. Later, the saturation of the ER, which led to situations only saved by the enormous professionalism of the workers. And now, the scandal of the workers without a contract.
