The Province imposed a fine on EDET for the power outages. This was reported by the Minister of Government and Justice, Carolina Vargas Aignasse, through her Twitter account, where she explained that “on the instructions of the governor, Osvaldo Jaldo, the Directorate of Internal Trade, in the morning hours (today), it communicated to the energy company the fine that it will have to face for a total amount of $ 15,000,000 ”.
In the statement, the official details that it is the maximum of the fine provided for by the National Consumer Defense Law No. 24,240, imposed as a result of the service cuts that occurred on December 3 and 18, and June 25 2019, during Father’s Day.
Said sanctions are for breach of the duty of information to the user (article 4 of the aforementioned law), unworthy treatment (article 8 bis) and breach of contract (article 19) ”, adds the minister.
“Regarding this last article, articles 26 and 27 of the General Service Provision Regulation were taken into account, by virtue of which it must ensure the quality of service to its clients and treat them with courtesy, correctness and diligence.”
Finally, Vargas Aignasse remarks that “the fine imposed does not impede the prosecution of the pertinent procedure through the corresponding legal lanes to compensate the user for the service that he has not received from the company.”
