ALLISON SALES/FUTURA PRESS/ESTADÃO CONTENT – 01/11/2022 Ministry of Health plans to distribute 13 million self-tests in February

The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, informed on the morning of this Wednesday, 12, that the folder will distribute 28 million quick tests for detection of Covid-19 until next Saturday, the 15th. According to Queiroga, until February, there will be 13 million units. The ministry still has the prospect of acquiring another 7.8 million tests. “The Ministry of Health is working hard with all secretariats to bring the answers that Brazilians want in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic. As in other countries in the world, we are also witnessing an increase in the number of cases. We still don’t have pressure on hospitals, therefore the number of deaths is still at an acceptable level, if death can be accepted, but we are working on several fronts. First: expanding the question of tests. In the month of January, we will distribute 28 million quick tests by the 15th. There will be 13 million in the month of February. We already have a concrete perspective of another 7.8 million tests”, said the minister in a conversation with the press.

Queiroga took the opportunity to emphasize that vaccination remains the main tool to fight the pandemic and defended the expansion of the booster dose and the second dose. “The main action, without a doubt, is the vaccination campaign. Increase the booster dose and, in some States where the second dose is low, especially in the North region. expand the second dose”, emphasized the minister. According to him, the folder was structured for the logistics of importing and distributing oxygen tanks. “This year we already have a better structure for the oxygen issue, which was critical at the peak of Gama. Several of the hospitals now have cryogenic tanks. The FAB already has greater expertise in taking oxygen in a way that, if there is pressure on the health system in the North region, the preparation is much greater,” said Queiroga.
