A group of monkeys kidnapped a baby in the Indian city of Baghpat. The body of the two-month-old child was discovered a few hours later in a water tank. According to the family, the monkeys had tried to kidnap the baby before.
Indian media reported the death of a baby in the city of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh on January 10th, which upset residents. Several monkeys kidnapped the two-month-old boy over the weekend and apparently drowned him in a water tank. The victim was called Keshav Kumar.
According to his family, it was not the first time the animals had targeted the baby. However, they had failed in their previous attempt to steal the child. The boy was kidnapped while he and his grandmother were sleeping in a room on the terrace. The door was open and the monkeys dragged the baby out. A few hours later, the boy was found lifeless: the body was floating in a water tank. The parents, who were still in shock, told journalists on Saturday:
“We didn’t expect them to return like this in the dark. We lost our child.”
The police confirmed the monkey’s abduction of the child. The officers analyzed footage from security cameras, which clearly showed that the monkeys had left the terrace of the house with the child. A monkey had carried it away in his arms. Local residents told journalists that they had made several complaints to the authorities about the dangerous neighborhood with the monkeys. However, the complaint was of no use.
