"Er ist ein Arschloch" – Australisches Moderatoren-Duo beleidigt Đoković live im TV

In a live broadcast on the Australian broadcaster Channel 7, the Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković was badly insulted in front of the camera. The moderator duo apparently did not know that it was live on the air.

The shot backfired: on Australian television, two presenters blasphemed the Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković in a live broadcast. How could that happen? Apparently, the moderators believed that they were on a commercial break, which is why they were unrestrained to express their opinion about the unvaccinated Đoković.

The presenter Rebecca Maddern got started and insulted Đoković as a “lying, devious asshole”. Then her colleague Mike Amor agreed and replied, “Yeah, he’s an asshole.” The newscaster then insinuated that the tennis player didn’t think he actually tested positive: “You don’t go out knowing that you might be positive. I don’t think he was positive. This form is …” Her colleague then interrupted her and expressed all his displeasure with the Serb:

“I don’t think he had a bloody disease. He didn’t give a shit. It was a shitty excuse and now he’s falling over his own fucking lies. That’s what’s happening, isn’t it?”

The background to the verbal derailments of the moderators is the current discussion about Đoković’s participation in the Australian Open. Đoković, who was not vaccinated against Corona, wanted to travel to Australia with an exception. But currently only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed to enter the country. He later submitted a positive test result from December, which should prove recovery. An Australian court agreed that he was right at the beginning of the week and thereby made his entry possible. Whether he will be allowed to take part in the tournament to defend his title win from last year is still in the stars.
