You are currently viewing Great trailer for ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’: Amazon’s new animated series for adults puts us squarely in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign

Curious the story behind the new animated series for adults of Amazon Prime Video. With a premiere scheduled for January 28, ‘The Legend of Vox Machina‘tells the story of a group of Dungeons & Dragons adventurers featured in this foul-mouthed trailer.

Based on Campaign One of the ‘Critical Role’ web series, in which a group of professional voice actors they start playing the fifth edition of ‘Dungeons & Dragons’. From that world created for the occasion, this series was born.

Thus, we find ourselves with a group of marginalized (the Vox Machina) with love for deprivation and anger who, in a desperate attempt to pay their outstanding bill with the bar, go on a mission to save the kingdom of Exandria from the evil dark forces that threaten it.

The series features the voices of the cast and founders of Critical Role (whom we have heard in various video games and animated series): Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel y Travis Willingham.

Critical Role Vox Machina

The project to make an animation arose in 2019, when the folks at Critical Role launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund an animated special based on their characters. The campaign was so popular (it is the most successful animation project in history) that it was expanded to a full ten-episode season.

Finally, Amazon Studios arrived and decided to back them by commissioning fourteen more episodes. So we are going to have ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ for the long haul: two seasons of twelve episodes each. Hopefully, yes, it is worth it. At the moment the trailer promises a lot.
