The Secretary General of the Popular Party, Teodoro Garcia Egea, has insisted this Wednesday that the congress of the PP in Madrid “whoever will appear”, although he stressed that in the conclaves held so far only one candidacy has concurred, which has allowed the party to be “much more united, cohesive and strong in all its territorial areas ».
Asked about a unique list in Madrid, García Egea has referred to what happened in the congresses that have already been held popular and in which, he highlighted, there were unit lists. “A panorama quite different from that of four years ago,” he stressed, alluding to what happened in the PP of the Balearic Islands, La Rioja, Cantabria and Castilla y León, where there were two candidates and the party was “divided in half.”
“I think we have taken an important step when it comes to uniting our party because of the 50 provincial congresses only 1 has had two candidacies and it is clear that this reflects the unity around the PP,” he pointed out. “In the regional congresses none he has had two candidacies and that shows that we have a united, cohesive party, “he insisted.
However, when asked next if that would mean that the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, will not attend finally, he added that the congress “whoever will appear” and the members will vote, thus avoiding public support for the president of the Community of Madrid, which has already advanced to be presented. He added that the PP is doing work “throughout Spain so that the party bases have great unity” and has hoped that pending congresses will also be “unity congresses, in which the defense of the principles and in which the organization is strengthened from below ”.
Despite the public approaches in recent weeks, the party is still immersed in the internal noise generated by the PP congress in Madrid. This Monday, García Egea and Isabel Díaz Ayuso met again publicly for the first time after months of discrepancies at the informative breakfast starring the Madrid president.
In his speech, Ayuso assured that his relationship with Genoa is “completely normal” after having made “some headlines” in the last quarter.
“We are the political alternative and we have nothing more important to do than show citizens that we are the best party and the most prepared to lead that change,” he insisted.
Likewise, he defended that Casado is “the person who is going to lead the political change in Spain” and that his job will be to be next to the president of the PP so that, together with the rest of the regional presidents, parliamentarians and the leadership of the party arrives ” as soon as possible »to« lead »a change« necessary for Spain ».
Asked about the Madrid congress, she assured that she has “a deep illusion” to be in charge of it and that, when it is convened, she will present herself.
In this time, the differences between Genoa and Sol due to the regional conclave have been evident. Ayuso has insisted that the congress must be held as soon as possible to have the organization ready for the 2023 regional and municipal elections. Genoa has been reiterating, for its part, that the calendar is set by the National Board of Directors, taking it until May or June. In addition, the national leadership has stated that the congress will be presented “whoever wants”, which has been feeding the possibility of another candidacy, such as the mayor of Madrid.
On December 1, Pablo Casado and Isabel Díaz Ayuso staged their first meeting in full swing by the regional PP, on the occasion of the presentation of Mariano Rajoy’s book. As OKDIARIO has published, both leaders spoke by phone this Christmas, after knowing the positive for Covid de Casado.
