The team of Sven Nys has already announced a first newcomer for the upcoming cyclocross season. 17-year-old David Haverdings will then join the Baloise Trek Lions as a promise. Haverdings is considered a top talent and has already won 14 times in the juniors this year.
Haverdings is one of the big favorites to the World Junior Championships. The Dutchman won classics such as Koksijde, Overijse, Tabor, Namen and Baal this season. He took silver at the European Championships.
So next year he will drive for Nys’ team. This summer Haverdings will first enjoy himself on the road and mountain bike with the youth team AA Drink Young Lions. He will then dive into the field from September.
“I feel I’m ready for a step up,” he says. “I already got to know Pim Ronhaar in the mountain bike races this summer. He already told me about the nice atmosphere at the team. I am already looking forward to getting to know everyone and starting a new adventure.”
