Chelsea FC are in the final of the English League Cup. After the 2-0 home win in the first leg, the Blues at Tottenham also prevailed 1-0 in the second leg on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea takes command at the beginning of the game and deserves to take the lead in the 18th minute: Tottenham goalie Gollini misjudges a mount corner and so Antonio Rüdiger gets the header, which he places in the Spurs housing via the lower edge of the crossbar.

Shortly before the break, there is a penalty alarm after a Rüdiger attack against Hojberg. Referee Marriner points to the point, but the VAR decides that the foul happened outside the Chelsea penalty area.

After changing sides, the referee is outvoted again: Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa clears a tackle against Lucas Moura – but the VAR reveals that the attack was clean.

Tottenham continues to apply a lot of pressure: First, Kepa saves with a brilliant save against a royal header. Shortly thereafter, a hit from Harry Kane is not given because of an offside position.

After that, Chelsea get the game back under control. Tottenham is trying, but can no longer turn things around.

Chelsea will face either Arsenal or Liverpool in the battle for the title on February 27 (first leg January 13 / second leg January 20).
