The area of Pucón in La Araucanía or Puerto Varas in Los Lagos are two must-see destinations that have become world-class tourist poles, but the attractions of southern Chile go much further, and within a few kilometers there is the possibility of finding places magic that invite you to disconnect, clear your mind and, ultimately, deliver an infinite experience.
Through the Destination Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route (RELV), more than 4 thousand tourist entrepreneurs and tour operators between the regions of La Araucanía and Los Lagos, give life to the campaign “You Miss South”, an invitation to discover that south that it is believed to know, but it is not known. That multicultural south that has many things to teach and where there is much to discover.
The manager of RELV, Rodrigo Moreno, highlighted the motivation of hundreds of entrepreneurs to want to join together to give life to this campaign that invites tourists to discover this scenic route that brings together the best of southern Chile.
“They have been difficult times where families are more tired and the pandemic has accentuated physical and mental illnesses. The confinement and the uncertainty have clearly affected us so we want to inspire people from the south, that in life there is not just one route, but there are many to discover. We all lack South, even the most southerners
An infinite experience
There are 727 kilometers of scenic route that articulates 6 tourist circuits (Araucanía Lacustre, Araucanía Andina, Siete Lagos, Lago Ranco, Norpatagonia and Lago Llanquihue), which begins in the north, in the commune of Victoria (Araucanía region), located at 611 km south of Santiago de Chile and ends south of Cochamó, in the Los Lagos region.
The audiovisual communicator Carlos Ruiz had the opportunity to walk the route and what he experienced exceeded his expectations. “Having the opportunity to do routes by bicycle and Kayak gave us a more versatile way of knowing. The south of Chile offers a diversity of tourist offer that is unique, where destinations can be approached in a thousand different ways, molding itself to so many different circumstances that allow the delivery of experiences for all tastes and pockets ”.
The young bicycle traveler Isabel Lorca, has the goal of getting to know the whole country by bicycle and had the experience of touring La Araucanía for the first time, where she toured part of the Villarrica National Park among other destinations. “In a frame of Araucarias forests I was able to connect with the spaces, thanks to the accompaniment of specialized guides who teach you about ancestral customs and their way of relating to the land. Without a doubt, this trip was very revealing where everything is well thought out and the tour operators I met take care of our needs in a very warm way ”.
For his part, photographer Benjamín Encinas is a specialist in ecotourism and highlighted the opportunities that the Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route offers its visitors. “There is a wide diversity of forest ecosystems throughout this area that offers photography lovers invaluable landscapes and moments. For example, it is possible to appreciate different birds, such as the Kingfisher, herons, cormorants and Dominican gulls, among others. In addition, a must-see attraction is to trek through the Puyehue National Park and appreciate the panoramic view of the Tronador, Casablanca, Puntiagudo and Osorno volcanoes.
