Woman gives birth to quintuplets in São Paulo maternity hospital

After 29 weeks of pregnancy and an elective cesarean section, mother and babies are doing well and are still hospitalized.

THE Vila Nova Cachoeirinha School Maternity Hospital, in São Paulo, was the scene of arrival in the world of the quintuplets Magdalena, Isabel, Helena, Henrico and Ravi. It was 29 weeks of pregnancy. The babies, children of Anique Vieira de Cássia dos Santos, 28, were assisted during delivery by the doctor Enoque Quinderi. The prenatal care was done by the doctor Eliana Morita. Anique’s pregnancy was being monitored at the unit until, this weekend, the medical team decided on elective cesarean section. The birth of the five babies required a great mobilization of resources in the hospital unit. Three professionals were made available for each baby, in addition to monitoring in a neonatal intensive care unit. The complete team had more than 20 professionals and preventive measures were taken, such as the early hospitalization of the pregnant woman. Now, mother and babies are doing well and are still hospitalized.
