The emotional farewell to "Caramelito" to his brother Martín Carrizo

The musician Martin Carrizo this one died Tuesday morning. Before his death, his sister and child entertainer Cecilia “Caramelito” Carrizo published emotional messages on her Instagram account. The former drummer had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2017.

“His love, his smile, his music remain with us forever,” wrote Cecilia “Caramelito” Carrizo on her Instagram account after the death of her brother Martín Carrizo. The drummer suffered from Amyotrophic Lateral Eseclerocis (ALS) and died this Tuesday at dawn.

With a photo of the brothers holding hands when they were children, “Caramelito” wrote a heartfelt message. “Please tell me where I am going. Thank you, my dear ones, for so much love, help and unconditional support. They did you very well every day. Infinite thanks,” said the children’s entertainer.

Then he made another post. There they are seen when they are grown up, embraced. The photo reads: They are taking care of us from above. “

The former drummer had been diagnosed with ALS in 2017. Thanks to a campaign promoted by his sister, in 2019 Martín was able to travel to the United States to receive a three-month treatment in order to achieve a better quality of life. According to her social networks, the practices helped her to recover some of the energy she had lost. However, in 2021 he said that he could not continue with the treatment due to its high economic costs.

A week ago the musician had his birthday and shared a video on Instagram where he is seen playing the drums. “The truth was I thought it was not past Christmas, but here I am, I am finishing drawing up a new protocol to continue looking for my definitive cure,” wrote the former drummer, who among others, played with Indio Solari in Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado and with Gustavo Cerati .

What is ALS?

ALS is a degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system. The cause that causes it is unknown and at the moment there is no cure, but there are experimental treatments that can improve the quality of life of those who suffer from it. However, these are procedures that are carried out outside the country and with a high economic value.

The progressive loss of muscle control is one of the main characteristics of this disease. As a consequence of the muscular weakness, practices such as walking, writing or speaking are difficult for the advanced levels of ALS.

Recently, Senator Esteban Bullrich submitted his resignation to the National Senate, despite the fact that he had a mandate in force until 2023, to focus on the treatments for the ALS he suffers from. The former Minister of Education made his condition public in early 2021.
