Renata Voracova has not been vaccinated (or at least not with a recognized vaccine), but because she recently contracted an infection, she was allowed to participate in the Australian Open with a medical exception, according to Tennis Australia.
At the airport itself, the double player eventually did not receive a valid visa from customs. Like Novak Djokovic, she was placed in a quarantine hotel, which she – unlike Djokovic – left after a few days for the return journey.
She now wants to tell Tennis Australia, the organizer of the Australian Open, the costs that Voracova has incurred in recent weeks. “The plane ticket alone cost me 2,460 euros. My trainer also traveled with me.”
“In addition, you also have the training for the Australian Open, the costs for the hotels and the potential prize pool. I hope we don’t have to make a lawsuit out of this”, Voracova replies to a spontaneous compensation from Tennis Australia.
The 38-year-old player is still impressed by what happened to her. “I still haven’t digested this. I’m not thinking about tennis. I’m exhausted.”
