Russians warned about Epiphany frosts and a roundabout of cyclones

The weather for the old New Year and Epiphany in the central part of Russia will make up for the lack of cold weather – jumps in temperature from minus 20 to zero degrees and a drop in atmospheric pressure are expected. In a conversation with “Lenta.ru”, the head of the forecast center “Meteo”, forecaster Alexander Shuvalov warned about the Epiphany frosts and the carousel of cyclones of Russians.

On Thursday, January 13, from minus 15-20 degrees in the morning, the temperature will rise to zero by midnight. In addition, it will snow, and the pressure will drop from 750 to 720 millimeters of mercury in 36 hours. From Friday, January 14, until Sunday, January 16, the weather will be rather mild with light snow, but this can be called a prelude to a cold snap, Shuvalov added.

“Next, a roundabout of cyclones will begin, which will pass along trajectories from north-west to south-east, and each next one will pass south of the previous one. The temperature will start to drop, on Epiphany night it will be about minus 20 degrees, ”said the forecaster.

From Monday, January 17, the temperature will begin to drop, and by Thursday, January 20, night temperatures will be minus 20-24 degrees. “But it’s even good that on Epiphany night there will be frost – if you swim at such a low temperature, the water will seem warm,” the specialist concluded.

Earlier, Shuvalov predicted a weather fever for the Russian regions, in which the temperature difference could reach 25 degrees. Similar phenomena are expected in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and in the south of the country. So, in Krasnodar on Tuesday, January 11, the air temperature will be plus 12 degrees, it will rain and fall up to a third of the monthly norm of precipitation, and at night on Thursday, January 13, the temperature will drop to minus 10 degrees.
