Newcastle United are set for a busy transfer window.

The Magpies are now the richest club in the world, and with so much financial strength behind them, they will strengthen their team in order to get out of this relegation battle.

They’ve already started the process by signing Kieran Trippier, and they could sign another star with links to Burnley if reports are to be believed.

Indeed, The Tyneside club is apparently interested in Chris Wood.

Wood could be an incredible signing for Newcastle.

The Burnley striker has proven himself in the Premier League for several years, but perhaps the most exciting aspect of the signing would be the potential partnership between Wood and the acquisition of Newcastle in January.

Trippier and Wood could form a very deadly partnership despite having one player being a striker and the other a defender.

Trippier is a brilliant cruiser. He had six full-back assists last season and has averaged 1.5 successful crosses per game throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Wood is a 6-foot-3 center-forward who can absolutely dominate in the air.

Wood has won, on average, 5.5 aerials per game this season, which is an incredibly impressive number.

In fact, it’s the highest tally of any player in the Premier League. Even the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Tomas Soucek cannot match this tally.

The wood is shiny in the air and Trippier is one of the best full-backs in the league when it comes to delivering the ball deep. These two could be an absolute match made in heaven if PIF can strike that deal.
