It is wise: Cristian Pavón’s continuity in Boca after June 2022 depended practically on a miracle. The striker is released in the middle of the year and his intention is to continue his career at another club, particularly abroad, and preferably in Europe. But nevertheless, The former Los Galaxy forward could call this season at Cruz Azul in Mexico, which for two weeks has been managing the incorporation of Cordoba.
According to what emerged this Tuesday, Boca and Cruz Azul would have reached an agreement to transfer the 80% of the attacker’s token in a figure close to 3.2M dollars. In other words, a great deal for Xeneize, since the player could be released on 6/30, without leaving a single penny for the club. “Now he has to arrange Pavón with Cruz Azul. Between clubs I would tell you that everything is OK”, they assured Ole from Ezeiza.
However, Mexican media assure that Pavón’s pass would be practically down, since the Cement Machine intends not to invest large money in the purchase of a player that could be released in less than 180 days. In the same way, They say that it was Boca that offered to sell 80% of Pavón for 3.2 million and that Cruz Azul would reject the conditions imposed by Xeneize.
Pavón has a contract until 6/30.
“We have the best relationship with Cristian, I hope he will be with us for many years. Hopefully there will be a rapprochement soon so that he continues”, he assured Jorge Bermudez, a member of the Soccer Council, in his last public appearance at the end of last week. Even so, it is almost a fact that Pavón will not renew and will look for a way out now (in exchange for money) or in June, already with the pass in his possession.
Hidalgo and his team with Cristian Pavón.
Fernando Hidalgo, as the player’s representative, was expectant about the offer from the Mexicans. “When Cruz Azul appeared, I told them (their leaders) to contact Boca, out of respect. I had no more information. I do not know if it is a theme of the Mexican team or of Boca. This was the most important proposal we had for Pavón ”, he acknowledged. And he clarified: “We are willing to see what there is. A good start agreed by both parties is always better“.
Pavón surrendered in the MLS and returned to Boca (@LAGalaxy).

Kichán went from being one of the best-valued players in the country (the clause, set in 2018, amounts to 50 green suits) to a footballer with relative participation in Boca since his return from MLS (23 starting games, four goals) and without specific offers from the major leagues of the world. In 2019, the Galaxy dropped the 20 million purchase option of dollars but they approached several similar proposals that did not meet the expectations of the Xeneize.
Now, Boca has the option of transfer it to a much lower amount or run out of money and without a player in the next transfer market.
Pavón was one of the five players on the squad who could not start the Boca preseason as a result of a Covid painting. He rejoined on Monday and, if Battaglia (and the Council) consider it, could be part of the squad for the 17/1 friendly against Colo Colo, in La Plata.
