Guasave.- Ivonne María Cárdenas Monreal indicated that she was hospitalized in the clinic of the IMSS in Guasave, Sinaloa to his partner, Omar Alberto Maldonado Allende, 42, since December 23, due to problems with two lumbar hernias, which prevents him from walking, but because they are beneficiaries in the city of Mexicali, they do not want to operate it.
Noted that has been fighting so that the doctors and the director of the IMSS agree to approve the surgery that he occupies, and although they have already carried out all the studies and obtained the paperwork that he required for the operation, such as CT scans, MRIs and obtained the blood that was requested, they refuse to proceed with the excuse that they are outsiders.
“They told me that I would have to get blood for the surgery and I did, on Friday they were the donors and I had to pay 1,200 pesos each,” he said.
She mentioned that last Friday they already had everything ready for her husband’s operation and that according to the doctors the surgery would be in the city of Culiacán, although at that moment the doctor saw a paper where he realizes that they are foreigners, and When confirming that they were from Mexicali, they told him that this changed things and they refused to operate on him..
“The doctor only told us that he would not have surgery because if we were not from here it changed things, but they had already been told that we are from Mexicali, and then the doctor only told me that he would be given stronger painkillers so that relieve and leave on his own foot, because he had to go from there, “he revealed.
He explained that it was explained to the doctors that they only came on vacation for the holidays, and despite the fact that they have current insurance, even so the doctors insist that they cannot proceed.
The complainant indicated that she has not been able to have contact with the director of the IMSS, Trinidad Leyva Verduzco, but that a friend of her, who is close to the director, had contact with her to see if they could get her partner to be cared for, having a resounding no as an answer, just because they are foreigners, justifying that operations cannot be carried out on outsiders.
Cárdenas Monreal declared that the indications of his doctors in Mexicali are that they do not move him because of the problem he has, since he would not support the trip by plane, car or bus.
“He has hernias the size of a lemon and my doctor told me not to take it, because if there is pressure in the hernia he will scream out pain, and if they cannot control it, he could suffer from a heart attack,” he concluded.
