In Bondy, Mbappé and the former mayor insulted, a complaint filed

In Bondy, where partial municipal elections are due to take place at the end of the month, insults against footballer Kylian Mbappé and former mayor Sylvine Thomassin were found on a mural tribute to the footballer prodigy.

SEINE-SAINT-DENIS – Kylian Mbappé collateral victim of a furious electoral campaign? During the weekend of January 8 and 9, offensive and even threatening tags were found on the fresco paying tribute to the Paris Saint-Germain footballer in the city of Bondy, where he is from.

“Mbappé tes mor” (sic), can we read there, as well as “Thomasin nique ta mère” (sic), in reference to Sylvine Thomassin, socialist mayor of the town for nine years and until the municipal elections of spring 2020.

As reported The Parisian, the discovery of these messages was denounced by the person concerned, in particular in a Facebook publication. Sylvine Thomassin evokes “unacceptable attacks” which “affect her every day as a woman, mother, politician”. And explains that the striker of the France team is targeted, even if he “has nothing to do with politics”, for the simple reason “that he is one of (his) relatives”.

Because these insults and death threats are part of a tense context: that of the municipal partial election scheduled for the end of January in the town of Sequano-Dionysius.

In 2020, when only about sixty votes separated the list of Sylvaine Thomassin and that of Stephen Hervé (LR), winner of a breath, the vanquished councilor denounced the result of the ballot, evoking a series of low blows and special effects. And in particular, the culmination of a hot campaign, the circulation of an inflammatory leaflet against his candidacy which reproduced in a truncated way a press article.

Political battle

Result: last November, the Council of State decided to cancel the ballot, paving the way for the by-election scheduled for January 23 and 30. And at the same time reviving the enmities between the personalities who fight to take the head of the city of more than 50,000 souls, with for example – already – offensive tags against Sylvine Thomassin.

A fight not really fair play in which the 23-year-old footballer therefore finds himself trained because of his proximity to the socialist team which was in business until 2020. Last November, Kylian Mbappé had actually visited his city to meet young players, inviting only Sylvine Thomassin, but not her successor.

Likewise, with the Parisian, the former mayor insists on his proximity to the family of number 7 of the PSG, quickly evoking an exchange with the mother of this one. “I will not make more comments (on the insults)”, she declared to our colleagues. “We must despise these people better. I had Fayza (Kylian Mbappé’s mother) on the phone and she thinks the same. ”

In his Facebook message, the former mayor of Bondy also deplored that the Mbappé fresco was targeted by her detractors. “This fresco was a magnificent symbol, a call to believe in your dreams and always fight to achieve them. Today, it is also this message of hope that has been damaged. ” At Parisian, she explains having filed a complaint.
