Governor reassures the commerce and services sector, but calls into question major events; Carnival at the sambadrome, football games and concerts are at risk
the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB) said this Tuesday, 11, that the State should announce new restrictions for events with agglomeration. The toucan informed that the measures should be announced this Wednesday, 12, at a press conference at Palácio dos Bandeirantes. The governor, however, ruled out the possibility of closing the trade. “We will, of course, have restrictions that have already been presented for agglomeration events. Large agglomerations are not recommended. The Scientific Committee of the State of São Paulo has already expressed this deliberation. Tomorrow we will have the press conference at the Palace with new information. This afternoon the Scientific Committee meets, and tomorrow morning they will give us the recommended information”, said Doria during an event in Monte Aprazível.
“I want to reassure commerce and the service sector. There is no recommendation, to date, of restrictions that could be implemented. There is indeed caution and an express recommendation for people to wear masks at all times,” he added. The measure comes after the increase in cases of Covid-19 in the State and the transmission of the Ômicron variant. This Monday, the City of São Paulo also began to require the vaccine passport for events with more than 500 people.
