Days of the NYELENI course: CNOSM magnifies women's sport through a walk

The National Olympic and Sports Committee of Mali celebrated the second edition of the days of the NYELENI course during which it distinguished many Malian sportswomen.

The activities of these sports days were coordinated by the Women and Sport Commission of the CNOSM. On the fiftieth anniversary square, last weekend, the initiators organized a women’s sports march which started from the banks of the Niger rivers through the Boulevard de l’Independance at the Labor Exchange to the Wolofobougou interchange. , before returning to the headquarters of the CNOSM, where it ended. Many athletes, mainly girls, took to this march in favor of the promotion and popularization of women’s sport. Before the start of this walk, a series of demonstrations of several disciplines took place on the fiftieth anniversary square.

For Ms. Sy Aminata Makou Traoré, president of the organizing committee, the objective of these days of ” Nyeleni ” journey is to celebrate women’s sport and to urge women to practice sport. She believes that sport is less practiced by women in Mali. This, she says, could mainly be explained by their under-representativeness in sports bodies. For her, much remains to be done to cross this course in Mali.

Finally, trophies were distributed by the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Mali to several athletes and women sports officials for their commitments to the popularization of women’s sport. Despite these distinctions, many efforts still need to be made to promote women’s sport. It is still dominated by men who are more likely to have a career than women.
