Brazil registers 34,788 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

Brazil recorded this Monday 34,788 new cases of coronavirus, with the country’s total confirmed infections rising to 22,558,695, the Ministry of Health said.

There were also 110 new deaths from Covid-19, which brought the total number of fatal victims of the disease in the country to 620,091, added the ministry.

Brazil is the third country with the highest number of deaths from the disease, behind only the United States and Russia, and the third in case count, below the USA and India.

The country has registered a jump in the number of new cases of Covid-19 registered per day in the last few days, amid the advance of the Ômicron variant, but the average of deaths remains stable, since the new strain appears to have lower lethality, despite being more transmissible.
