Eric Domingo is a young athlete who broke the Guinness marathon record by pushing a wheelchair on Sunday, November 7. This ‘feat’ has taken place in the context of the celebration of the 42nd edition of the Zurich Marathon of Barcelona. Eric has taken the opportunity to carry his mother’s wheelchair, hoping to make multiple sclerosis visible.

The man and his mother, Silvia Roldán, have covered the 42 kilometers in two hours, 53 minutes and 28 seconds, thus surpassing the previous Guinness record. The objective of this athlete is that more is known about this chronic disease, neurodegenerative and without cure with which Silvia has lived for 20 years.

“We have fulfilled a dream. I promised my mother that we would make the Guinness record and we have achieved it together,” said Domingo after crossing the finish line and giving an emotional hug to the woman, of whom he said that “has happened a very hard time, but she always smiles and always fights“.

It has raised 1,500 euros

“Today is the happiest day of my life. We have achieved it and at home. Thank you all,” added an excited Silvia Roldán. Eric Domingo and his mother already tried to break this record in the marathon that was held in Seville in 2020, but they have had to wait to achieve it in Barcelona.

Domingo has also launched the ’42kmcorrieEMdo’ campaign on the migranodearena.org platform and it has been proposed to raise 3,000 euros. So far it has obtained half and all the funds will go to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation to improve the quality of life of patients and advance research into the disease.
