The South Tyrolean Jannik Sinner is in the semifinals of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna after a two-set victory over the Norwegian Casper Ruud.

The number eleven of the tennis world wins after 1:37 hours with 7: 5, 6: 1 against the world number eight.

Sinner takes Ruud’s serve in the first game, but then has to accept it himself to make it 3: 3 in the sixth game. The Italian managed a break to 6: 5 in the eleventh game, Sinner served the following service game to win the set.

From this moment on, things seem to be easier for the 20-year-old. Sinner quickly builds a 4-0 lead in the second set, which is no longer in danger afterwards.

In the semifinals, Sinner meets the American Frances Tiafoe, who throws Diego Schwartzman out of the tournament.
