The price of electricity will rise by 7.5% this Friday, to 231 euros

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market (pool) will rise 7.5% this Friday compared to this Thursday and will stand at 231.82 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), according to data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE).

This price is the second highest in history, only surpassed by that of last October 7 (288.53), and surpassing other days in which the price was also soaring, such as October 6 (228.59) and October 8 (229.2).

The price exactly one year ago was 39.33 euros MWh, almost six times less.

On the day after the validation in Congress of the decree with urgent measures to combat the ‘electricity rally’, the wholesale price of electricity will rise again and will mean exceeding the 200-euro border for the eighth time.

The price of this Friday will oscillate between 265 euros MWh that will be reached at 9 in the morning, and 201 euros at four in the afternoon.
