The Georgian prosecutor’s office has officially charged a 21-year-old man who was detained for hacking Facebook pages and embezzling money through fraud, according to a statement on the agency’s website. The hacker hacked the page of a Georgian priest and embezzled the flock’s money >>> had previously been convicted of a similar crime, in October of this year he penetrated the Facebook page of a priest of the Tabor monastery in Tbilisi. The attacker contacted the congregation on behalf of the clergyman, took the data of bank plastic cards and SMS passwords of the Internet bank from the parishioners. As a result, he gained access to their Internet banks, took out quick loans and embezzled various amounts. The investigation also established that the amounts appropriated from citizens were first credited to the accounts of online casinos and sweepstakes, and then to his personal bank account. 14 injured citizens, and the financial damage is more than 76.7 thousand lari (more than 24.7 thousand dollars). TBILISI, Oct. 14 – Sputnik. The Georgian prosecutor’s office has formally filed charges against a 21-year-old man who was detained for hacking Facebook pages and embezzling money through fraud, according to a statement on the agency’s website.

According to the investigation, a young man, who had previously been convicted of a similar crime, entered the Facebook page of a priest of the Tabor monastery in Tbilisi in October this year. The attacker contacted the congregation on behalf of the clergyman, took the data of bank plastic cards and SMS passwords of the Internet bank from the parishioners. As a result, he gained access to their Internet banks, took out quick loans and misappropriated various amounts.

The investigation also found that the amounts appropriated from citizens were first credited to the accounts of online casinos and sweepstakes, and then to his personal bank account.

At this stage, 14 affected citizens have been identified, and the financial damage is more than 76.7 thousand lari (more than 24.7 thousand dollars).

“As a result of the investigation, the circle of victims and the amount of damage caused may increase,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.
