Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of Roscosmos, showed Twitter video from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The footage shows the robotic platform “Marker”, previously called deadly.
“Marker took up combat duty,” the head of the state corporation signed the video.
Roscosmos reported about testing of the Marker robot on the Vostochny earlier in October. At the same time Rogozin noted that “the formed scientific and technical groundwork and technologies, including those with elements of artificial intelligence, will be used to create technology for the study and development of the Moon and the planets of the Solar System.”
In September, in a Forbes publication, British journalist David Humbling admitted that the latest tests of the Marker experimental robotic platform indicate that Russia is entering a new level of development of unmanned technologies.
The Marker robotic platform is a joint project of the Foundation for Advanced Research and the Android Technology Research and Production Association, which developed the Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research (FEDOR) product, which flew to the International Space Station in August 2019. “Marker” must be able to work with small arms and destroy ground and air targets, and will also receive a grenade launcher. In the future, the device will be able to be equipped with drones.
