"Rain" was threatened with a fine for violating the law on "foreign agents"

TV channel “Rain” (entered by the Ministry of Justice into the register of foreign media agents) and the editor-in-chief of its website, Vladimir Motorin, face fines for disseminating information about an NPO recognized as a foreign agent in Russia without indicating its status in one of the publications. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press service of Roskomnadzor.

The Russian department will draw up administrative protocols in relation to this media outlet and its official. It is clarified that the lack of special labeling for NCO agents is a violation of Part 2.1 of Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia.

Now the legal entity faces a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles, and the chief editor of the site – up to 5 thousand rubles. The exact amount of the sanctions will be determined by the court.

On August 20, the Ministry of Justice entered the Dozhd TV channel into the register of foreign media agents. As explained in the department, the channel received 130 thousand euros (11.2 million rubles) from the European Union and received indirect funding from abroad. In addition, the list includes the publication “Important Stories” and seven journalists. The chief editor of “Dozhd” Tikhon Dzyadko promised to appeal against the decision of the department in court.
