LAST MINUTE | Health reports that the occupancy of covid patients in ICU drops 5% in a day with 1,932 new infections and 48 deaths
The Ministry of Health has notified 1,932 new infections and has added 48 deaths to the official count. The cumulative incidence drops almost one point to 40.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and the occupancy of covid patients in Intensive Care Units has dropped by 5%. In total, 4,982,138 people have been infected and 86,917 have died since the start of the pandemic.
By communities, Galicia and Asturias continue with the lowest infection rate with 15.7 and 16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively. They are followed by Castilla y León (30), Andalucía (28), La Rioja (28) and Madrid (43), among others. Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Melilla and the Basque Country continue to exceed 50 cases, so they are not yet at low risk of infection.
Regarding hospital pressure, 1,854 people remain hospitalized for coronavirus, 54 less than on Wednesday. The occupancy of intensive care units has also dropped, with beds with covid patients in the ICU already falling below 5% (454 patients admitted compared to 486 the day before).
