The speed at which lava flows from the La Palma volcano has increased in recent hours, leaving images like the main cone overflow.
Thus, scientists from the Institute of Volcanology of the Canary Islands (Involcan) have reported in the last minutes that their team has been able to film today a “True lava tsunami”. Some images that speak for themselves and that experts describe as “Impressive speed and overflow of the lava channel”.
Regarding these changes in the volcanic cone, Nemesio Pérez, director of Involcan, has said that “It is a normal process due to the eruptive dynamics itself. As long as the eruption continues, the configuration of the cone will change. ”
Of course, Pérez clarifies that “It is clear that more magma is coming out; the flow is higher and it is still too early to find out its trajectory ”.
