Newcastle United are reportedly interested in hiring Luis Campos.

The new mega-rich Magpies are looking for a Director of Football to reorganize the playing staff in the Northeast.

And the former Lille and Monaco manager Campos, who have won Ligue 1 titles at both clubs, is being considered by Newcastle, according to Sky Sports.

If he does make it to St James’s Park, don’t be surprised if speculation about a move for Bernardo Silva from Manchester City ensues.

Simply put, it’s a transfer that makes sense.

Why does this make sense?

Firstly, Campos has signed the Portugal international once before, bringing him back to Monaco in 2014 from Benfica.

Three years later he secured a £ 70million transfer alongside Pep Guardiola.

And despite winning three Premier League titles at Eastlands, Calciomercato announced this week that Guardiola could loan the player amid talks about a move to Juventus.

He’s a great player for Pep but, for some reason, a player that the Spanish manager is willing to part ways with in one way or another.

And that’s where Newcastle could strike as not only could Silva be interested in a reunion with Campos, but St James’s Park could and probably will be the place to be for the next few years.

With a fortune of £ 320 billion, there is no doubt that the Saudi Public Investment Fund will be building one hell of a project in the North East that most players would find it hard to refuse.

If Newcastle get Campos, ties with their former players are inevitable.

And with one of his best signings reportedly available at City, it could be very successful by January.
