The annual “Tribute to Bambi” charity gala takes place on Thursday evening at the Titanic Hotel in Berlin. The donation proceeds from the evening will benefit the associated foundation, which uses it to support aid projects for children and young people in need in Germany.
A network of personalities from business, politics and celebrities works under the motto “Bambi helps children” together with the foundation for children and young people in Germany who are seriously ill, emotionally injured or economically disadvantaged. Since 2001 around 170 non-profit organizations – some of them multiple times – have been supported and almost 10 million euros in donations in money and in kind have been collected.
Initiatives for traumatized children and against sexual violence
This year, too, there are ten funding projects among the participants that support children and young people with harrowing fates every day and accompany them on their journey through life. In the St. Jakobus GmbH facility in Zußdorf, children and young people with multiple disabilities or severe trauma who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect live. The majority of children cannot speak, and many of them have significant interpersonal problems. The “Tribute to Bambi” Foundation uses the funds to help equip the therapeutic play therapy, which for many children is the only way to participate in life again.
Pediatric nurses founded the Kleine Helden eV association to enable families with seriously ill children to take a break during the holidays. Accompanied by a nurse, the children and their families can relax and leave the worries of everyday life behind for a while. The “Tribute to Bambi” foundation pays the costs for a child nurse for a further year.
Another initiative – Wildwasser Berlin eV – has set itself the task of supporting girls who have been and are exposed to sexual violence. The girls’ emergency service, a dormitory in which those affected are taken in, looked after and accompanied in the further course in order to cope with the difficult experiences, is at its capacity limit: There are no longer enough places to treat all girls in need. The aim of the “Tribute to Bambi” foundation is to finance new and larger premises.
