The journalist and former national deputy Gabriela Cerruti was appointed by the president Alberto Fernandez “spokesman for the Presidency,” reported the president.
Cerruti will be in charge of the Presidential Management Communication Unit, and the figure of spokesperson was taken by Fernández from “some European democracies,” according to the head of state on his Twitter account.
“That this function is carried out by a woman highlights two fundamental issues of our Government: we want clear, precise and transparent communication and we uphold the vocation of advancing in gender equality and opportunities,” the President published on that social network.
The spokesperson will “communicate information, data, announcements, but also the ideas and the direction of the Government as a whole,” explained Fernández, and announced that “she will be available to check all the information they need to together fight rumors and news. false statements that do so much damage to democratic communication “.
“The time that begins after the pandemic forces us to redefine the agenda of daily communication, fundamental to bring certainty in a time of change and challenges,” wrote the President, who accompanied the text with a video in which he discussed it with the brand new official.
“We hope it will be a tool that is built and consolidated beyond this administration to provide a democratic public communication and a global conversation according to the new times,” he concluded.
Cerruti had presented his resignation yesterday as a national deputy to join the communication area of the Government.
