A penalty scored for the president. Emmanuel Macron walked the lawn of the Léo-Lagrange stadium in Poissy (Yvelines) in the company of Robert Pirès, Christian Karembeu, Laure Boulleau, Arsène Wenger, Alain Giresse, Claude Puel, Nicolas Douchez, Rudi Garcia, or Sidney Govou for a football match. Faced with a team of personalities, a team of caregivers from the intercommunal hospital center (CHU) of Poissy Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
Emmanuel Macron scored a goal by penalty in front of his wife Brigitte Macron, in the stands, during this victory (6-1) against the hospital staff, for the benefit of the Hospital Foundation, of which the first lady is president and organizer of Operation Yellow Pieces. The president wore number 3 and played as a defensive midfielder before scoring and being replaced, only in the 75th minute, by journalist Smaïl Bouabdellah. After the meeting, a dinner was held at the Elysée to celebrate the 50 years of the Variétés Club de France.
Emmanuel Macron took advantage of this meeting widely followed by the media to announce the release of 200 million euros in aid for local sport. He announced that he wanted to put a “huge boost” for “putting sport at the heart of the nation” by the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the construction of 5,000 local facilities.
The charity meeting ended with the presentation of a check for 50,000 euros to the Paris Hospitals Foundation, to the delight of its president Brigitte Macron.
