The Ministry of Culture of the Nation will grant an amount of $ 5,000 to young people between 18 and 24 who belong to low socioeconomic sectors so that they can use it for the “consumption of cultural goods and services”. It is the “More Young Culture” program, a measure that will be applied until April of next year and the money can be used to go to recitals, theater or movies.
Through the Resolution 1499/2021 Published this Thursday in the Official Gazette with the signature of Minister Tristán Bauer, it is intended to “promote the consumption of cultural goods and services” among marginalized sectors. As the norm explains, the beneficiaries will be those young people who receive a subsidy through the different social plans granted by the State.
The list includes young people between the ages of 18 and 24 who are beneficiaries of the Argentine Student Support Program (Progresar); holders of the Universal Child Allowance; holders of the Pregnancy Allowance; and those who have non-contributory disability pensions. However, those who are outside this age group and receive the Progresar, that is, “young people with minor children in single-parent homes, transgender people, indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and refugees, may also register.”
According to the text, young people will be able to use the five thousand pesos to attend shows, events and cultural centers that include, among others, “movie theaters, theaters, musical shows, fairs and festivals, accesses and / or online tickets for museums, spaces, centers and / or cultural circuits or corridors ”.
In addition, they will be able to access “bookstores, record stores, galleries and spaces associated with the visual arts, enrollment in courses, seminars, workshops or other training instances linked to culture.” However, the money can also be used for the “payment of teaching fees for the learning of artistic and / or cultural disciplines”.
The measure generates controversy when applied in the middle of the political campaign and with the focus on a sector of the electorate aimed at recovering the ruling party to turn the result of the PASO. This initiative is in addition to Axel Kicillof’s announcement of free graduate trips for senior high school students from public and private schools.
How to Enroll
Enrollment in the program will be enabled from today and will run until December 15, while the credited funds may be used between November 1 and April 30, 2022, date from which the loss of balances will occur. existing. To register, they must enter the official site of the Ministry of Culture of the Nation.
Then, the National Social Security Administration (Anses) will be in charge of validating the membership of the enrollees to the target population, while the National Bank will issue the prepaid cards where the money will be deposited. Beneficiaries may choose to operate virtually through a mobile application or request the plastic.
