Cristiano Ronaldo was in the race again on Tuesday night as he shot a hat-trick for Portugal in their 5-0 strike against Luxembourg.

The Manchester United frontman appears to be breaking a per game record and with this recent treble he has become the all-time leader in the men’s international hat-tricks with ten to his name and an incredible 58 overall.

Ronaldo will be 37 in just over three months, but his astonishing form as a goalscorer shows no signs of slowing down.

In fact, only Robert Lewandowski (50) and Erling Haaland (41) have more goals in 2021 than Ronaldo (38) in 2021.

And the ex-Real Madrid man could make more history in the weeks to come when club football resumes.

He now has 794 career goals for club and country, and, if he gets one goal per game – which is not uncommon for him – he could reach 800 against very special opposition.

Manchester United face their rivals City on November 6, and you wouldn’t want to overtake Ronaldo to mark his milestone in style.

If he scores against Leicester, Atalanta (twice), Liverpool and Tottenham, he will have the opportunity to score his 800th in the Old Trafford derby.

It would blow up the Theater of Dreams, especially as City had a strong bond with him the summer before his old club caught up with him.

After making more history during the international break, Ronaldo has vowed to continue his remarkable antics in the game.

He vowed he would “always look for more and more” after extending his record for international goals.

In a post on Instagram, Ronaldo wrote: “Another victory, another step towards our goal, another historic evening in defense of our colors!

“Everything becomes easier when we play at home and in front of an audience that cares about us from the first to the last minute…

“I had promised that I would always look for more and more!

“It’s in my DNA and in our DNA, we are never satisfied, we never give up and we always go. “
