CL women: Arsenal victorious in the ÖFB duel

Arsenal wrote for the first time in the women’s soccer Champions League in the second group game.

The Londoners defeat 1899 Hoffenheim on Thursday 4-0. Goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger and Viktoria Schnaderbeck, who was not used, decide the duel with her ÖFB teammates Nicole Billa, Katharina Naschenweng, Laura Wienroither and Celina Degen (from 92nd) for themselves. For Billa (up to 78th) a series ends after goals in three competitive games in a row.

Both teams hold on to three points, group C leader is FC Barcelona (6). In Pool D, Bayern Munich are second behind record winner Olympique Lyon (6) after a 4-0 win against Swedish champions BK Häcken with four points. For the Munich team, Sarah Zadrazil is on the field until the 73rd minute, Carina Wenninger is not used.

A group stage will be played for the first time this season, and with around 24 million euros, UEFA is paying out four times more money than before.
