Vienna – Thursday, October 14, 2021, 8:55 p.m.
Walter Ablinger and Carina Edlinger will be named Austria’s disabled athlete of the year 2021 on Thursday.
Edlinger already received the “NIKI” in 2019 for the sportswoman of the year with a disability. The visually impaired cross-country skier, who won the overall World Cup for the fourth time this spring, relegates swimmer Janina Falk and athlete Natalija Eder to the other places.
For Ablinger it is the first award in this category. The handbiker won gold and bronze at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Dressage rider Pepo Puch follows in second place, with Thomas Frühwirth another handbiker in third place.
