A resident of Manchester, UK, received a message in a bottle, which he himself threw into the sea 24 years ago, when he was six years old. This is reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Alex Melling said that he was flipping through the local community’s Facebook feed and suddenly saw a post that mentioned his name.
In the post, a man named Rex Winter wrote that this summer his children found a letter in a bottle on a “remote island in Scotland.” According to him, the message looked old and, apparently, was written by a child. The letter mentioned only Alex’s name and address – 27 Gilbert Street, Hindley. Winter said his daughter sent a letter to that address but received no response. He suggested that Alex could have moved, and now no one lives in the house. “I don’t know if this bottle is five years old or 30, but I’m sure Alex would be interested in what became of it,” he concluded and noted that he would like the sender to receive the message back.
Melling contacted Winter, which made his children very happy. As a result, the letter in the bottle was forwarded to the sender. A bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey was also included in the package. Melling added that he vaguely remembers throwing the bottle into the sea, but cannot specify where it was.
Earlier it was reported that a girl from the American state of Hawaii found a message in a bottle that was sent 37 years ago. The nine-year-old child was sure that he had found the treasure, while the parents were skeptical about the find and decided that it was ordinary rubbish.
