The head of the Buenos Aires government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, participated today in the 2021 edition of the IDEA Colloquium. During the event, he gave a speech in front of business leaders from all over the country in which he said: “to govern is also to generate quality work in each of the regions of our country so that people can choose where they want to develop their life project . “
The Buenos Aires president added: “This is achieved with a State that encourages regional economies and invests in infrastructure with federal criteria. The solution is not to nationalize the waterway, or to close the El Palomar airport. We have to be creative in public-private initiatives to increase investment that makes our products more competitive ”.
On education, he remarked: “it is the best way to reduce inequalities and give each person the tools they need to get out of poverty and have a better future. We have a huge educational challenge in our country, which begins with healing the wounds left by the pandemic. We already started. “
“All the boys in the City had classes since February 17th. At the end of the year they will complete 191 days of classes, thanks to the fact that we fight the presence even in the Supreme Court. Not only did they not lose a day, but we added more to the 180 established for the children to reinforce the contents of last year ”, he pointed out.
In the same vein, he said “we have just announced 3 new features: next year we are going to have 192 school days, we are going to make the extended day mandatory for all 6th and 7th grade boys so that they have 10 more hours of class per week , and we are going to implement a mechanism to cover free hours when a teacher is absent ”.
“We must always continue working for a quality education, which guarantees opportunities for growth and progress for all. So that young people want to stay and develop here, in Argentina and that they can freely choose their future. On this path, education is crucial, ”said Rodríguez Larreta.
“Last year I participated in this meeting in what was the first year of the pandemic. Today, the health situation is very different. Thanks to planning, evidence-based decision-making, working together and, above all, the advancement of the Vaccination Plan, in the City the data shows us an encouraging panorama that invites us to think again about the future ”he expressed.
“I am convinced that the future we want is possible because we see expressions everywhere from Argentines who want to progress and develop. We have to build a shared vision, which is translated into a plan. We need to agree on a common vision that includes at least two-thirds of the political representation in Argentina ”he continued.
Finally, he said that “to advance on this path, we have to make collaboration with all sectors a way of governing. We do not come out with chicanes, confrontations or cracks from this. If we want different results, we need to do something different. I believe in that different Argentina. In that productive Argentina, with quality education, with development and progress for all ”.
