The INational Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) updated the information on the demand and use of public services, such as electricity, electricity and water, garbage collection, mail service, among others. Although all had increases in their indexes of the original series, there was a public service that had a Shooting surprising. its demand reached the 300% compared to 2020.
The entity that unifies the statistical bases published its technical report on the official page. INDEC carried out the calculations taking into account three values: on the one hand, the v.ia (year-on-year value), the v.im (month-on-month value) and the v.tc (trend-cycle, also month-on-month). First, it was indicated that there was an increase in the 7,7% year-on-year, with respect to the same month of the previous year, while 0,7% month-on-month compared to June.
In relation to public services, the agency detailed the year-on-year increases that each had. “If the indices of the original series are analyzed, in July 2021 with respect to the same month of the previous year, the demand for electricity, gas and water registered a growth of 1.4%; waste collection had an increase of 5.9%, the postal service expanded 11.5%; while the telephony sector registered a positive variation of 1.9% ”, detailed the report.
However, the statistics that had the most impact were those related to the mobility of people. When the use of public transport was stopped due to the pandemic of coronavirus, this had an abrupt increase compared to July 2020. “For its part, passenger and cargo transport rose 300.7% and 18.5%, respectively; passing vehicles paid for tolls rose 88.4%”.
With regard to inter-monthly variables, the public services that increased the most were postal and tolls, the latter perhaps due to the winter holidays. Finally, the trend-cycle did not have significant changes, since the greatest increase is represented by freight transport with 1.4%.
