Photos: 'The Squid Game' challenges re-enacted in the UAE

In recent weeks the series The Squid Game has become a sensation around the world and, taking advantage of the context, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the United Arab Emirates decided to make some of the games that appear in production come true, although without putting the participants at risk.

Through a call, “to be at the height of world popularity” of The Squid game, the KCC organized an event in which the participants could also enjoy the challenges that take place in the series.

In total they were chosen 30 persons who participated in two sessions, 15 in each. In order to be part of this initiative, the interested parties had to fill out a form of inscription and they were notified via email.

The people selected could only be those who were residents in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and they must not be of Korean origin.

In keeping with the game, participants wore uniforms similar to those of the series and the personal carried the already characteristic suits with More expensive in which circles, triangles and squares could be seen.

  • Red light, green light
  • Dalgona Candy Challenge
  • Game of marbles

Regarding the initiative, the Korean Cultural Center said:

“The games seem a bit brutal in the series to maximize the dramatic element; However, in reality all the games in the series are popular games played by Korean children from the past to the present. The KCC wants the people of the UAE to learn more about Korean culture by participating in the event. ”

For his part, Nam Chan-woo, director of the cultural center, mentioned that the event was held with the intention of experiencing Korean play culture in the WATER.
