One dead and two injured were the result of a collision that occurred today on Highway 4 (A4), in the municipality of Alijó, and which restricted traffic on that road, said a GNR source.
The collision happened at kilometer 107.7 of the A4, in the area of the parish of Vila Verde, towards Murça – Vila Real.
As explained by the GNR, the accident resulted from a rear-end collision between a light passenger vehicle and a light goods vehicle, which was designed for the opposite lane.
The source said that the accident resulted in one death, who was circulating in the projected vehicle, and also two lightly injured people who were transported to the Vila Real unit of the Hospital Center in Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
Death was declared on the spot by the Emergency Medical Vehicle and Resuscitation (VMER) team.
The A4 was cut towards Vila Real – Murça, with traffic being diverted to National Road 15 (EN 15).
The road will remain conditioned while the relief, road cleaning and collision investigation operations took place, which will be carried out by the military of the GNR’s Traffic Accident Crime Investigation Center (NICAV).
According to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, the alert for the accident was given at 20:59 and 31 operatives were mobilized for the site, with 12 vehicles, from the Murça and Vila Real firefighters (Cruz Banca and Cruz Green), GNR, INEM and the concessionaire.
